ten favoriteEminem."Cinderella Man".Recovery.This song has a really smooth beat and it flows really well. You can sing to it very easily which makes it awsome and even more fun. I love the heavy base and really good mixing of the lyrics with the beat. It can get you in a really pumped up mood if you listen to is at the right time also. It is just a solid and good song. It has also gotten me out of bad places so in a way I appreciate the song.
B.O.B."Magic".The adventures of Bobby Ray. This song just makes you want to run around and have fun. It is very up beat and exciting to put you in the right mood for some activity. I usually listen to it before or while i ride my bike. The song is very possitive too and creates a positive mood anytime of the day. It one of those songs you listen to when you want to be cheered up or get people going.
A Day To Remember."The plot to bomb the panhandle".For those who have heart. Is the song that introduced me to a day to remember so it is a little special in its own way. It is a mix of good high pitched vocals and screaming, which i like both and its hard to find both done well in one song. The song starts off really good and fast to get you ready and it slows down towards the end to smooth out the ending and not just completely stop out of nowhere like some songs, and i like that.
Notorious B.I.G."whatchu want".Duets: The final chapter. This is the first song i knew every single word to and i would sing the whole song with my friend back in the day. We would both sing it flawlessly. It got me into listening to rap again and listening to it when i rode my bike. This opened a door to more rap music in my life. The song is very catchy to me and i dont really ever skip it on my ipod.
The naked and famous."young blood".Young Blood- single. After having an awsome day of dirtbiking with my friend i was driving home already in an awsome mood and this song started to play. I just loved it and it put me in an unstopable mood and ever since then it has been one of my favorite songs. It makes me think of the good days and forget anything bad. It is one of my cheer me up songs.
Enter Shikari"Sorry your not a winner".Take to the skies. At first i did not like this song and my friend would play this going to the skatepark all the time. Then it grew on me and i started to like it. This song got me into screamo/more hardcore music and it started an erra with me. The parts where they clap three times my friends would always clap along and be timed perfectly. I started doing that and it sortof makes me and my friends closer now because we all just have that reflex and will alwasy do the three claps, it's funny how we always will do it.
Midtown."become what you hate".living well is the best revenge. Me and my best friend would play an atv racing game listening to this all the time. We would both sing it and have a blast playing the game. It got me interested in off road vehicles like dirtbikes and quads also which is big in my life. I can always count on this song to get me pumped up to ride or while im riding. It has a great choris to blast and yell it when it is playing.
A Day To Remember."you be tails i'll be sonic"What separates me from you.. This is one of my favorite pump up songs and it gets me pumped for everything from dritbiking to driving to school. It is one of those songs that got me into the heavy screaming songs and bands. I can always sing the words and usually no matter what im doing when this plays i sing it. A very useful song to say the least.
Don Omar"danza kuduro".meet the orphans. Danza Kuduro, easily the happiest song i know, i may not know what the words mean because its not english but i do not care. If this does not make you happy, you need to be smacked. I just love it and the first time i heard it was in one of my favorite movies ever, fast and the furious. That had a big influence on me liking it and it makes me think of awsome cars, which makes me happy. It just makes you smile and i love anything that makes you smile.
A Skylit Drive(cover)"love the way you lie".punk goes pop volume 4. Even before you listen to this song you know it is going to be great because it was amazing when eminem made the song. This cover just made it a lot better and more my style. The song is full of contrast with the singers because there is one high pitch vocalist and one more low screamer vocalist and that to me makes a song good, in a way art because it utilizes the art element of contrast. That is why I like this band so much. This cover changed the original five star song and amped it up to a six star song.
ten bestNada surf."always love".friends with benefit. This song is is a way a life lesson because it is teaching you to be good to others and "always love" because as it says "hate will get you everytime". The song can change you for three minutes into a happy, generous person. It is moving and if you play it at the right moment you can make something into an epic moment. It is just something everyone should try atleast once to see if you like.
The Who."Baba O'Riley".The Who: Greatest Hits. This song is very recognizable and has great beats throughout the song. It has multiple parts that are just epic and very well planned out, its almost like it was designed or something and it works perfectly. It can be used in many different ways, it has been used in multiple movies and this is because it is very unique and has a one of a kind style to it. It is hard to describe, but its just great and you know when you listen to it.
Good Charlotte."the anthem".The young and the hopeless. Everyone should know this song, and everyone does know this song, and for a good reason. This is because it is an awsome song. It describes everyone when they were a teenager and how they want to be themselves and not the other guy. It is about how people are all one of a kind and how they should be like that. This song makes you want to love yourself and just do YOUR thing not joe shmoes thing.
Green Day."american idiot".American Idiot. This is another song everyone knows because of its success and just how its one of a kind good. Its kicking americans in the face and saying your an idiot. Which is the thing everyone want to do to someone. The difference between this song and everyone in the world is the fact that green day did it and smacked those people in the face. That made it so good because they did something everyone wants to do and made it good.
Gavin DeGraw."I dont want to be".Chariot. This song shows people you should be what you want to be and to be yourself. It is just inspiring and creates a good vibe that a lot of songs do not have the ability to do. It tells you nothing really matters is your not the person you want to be. The message is very important and a lot of people do not understand this message and some people never do. It is simple but everyone should listen to this song and understand the message at least once or twice.
Notorious B.I.G."juicy".Ready to die-The remaster. This song shows a lot, it shows that anyone can make it big and have a good life as long as they do their best and believe. One top of that great idea and message of a song it has a good beat and really good lyrics. Another song that is very inspiring and a very important idea to it. Some people may think it may not have as good of a message because it is rap but that has to do with it because noone thought he was going to make it and that's why biggie did his best, he had to prove himself.
Sum41."fat lip".All killer no filler. The most recognizable song out there, it is a very good one of a king song. At the same time it is like a lot of punk songs but it has its own feel to it and is unique. one of the best songs to just jump around and get pumped up and excited to. This should be played atleast once at all parties. Its just simple and awsome, everything goes very well together.
Smashmouth."all star".Astro Lounge. Everyone knows and likes this song. It starts off really good sortof telling a story and when you get into it the song gets you in the mood. Its impossible to not sing or go along with the song in some way, thats just how good it is. You can sometimes learn something from simple and to the point songs like this because they are so understandable and thats what makes it greater than most songs.
U2."sunday bloody sunday".U218 singles. The druming makes this song to start off because noone really makes the drums the most noticable part of the beat and they did that. They also went away from the regular or traditional drum beats. This song is one of those songs that you don't care to listen to when you hear the name but then you realize it is awsome when you play it. It has it's own recognizable style to it also.
Eminem"lose yourself".8 Mile soundtrack. Yet another success story from a rap star, sort of cliche but it works becuase eminem made it epic. It stands out from any other rap song because it relates to everyone. It tells how he went through bad and good and real life situations that everyone knows. The way the song transitions is very good too and better then any other typical rap song. That makes it stand out because eminem, as usual, stepped out of the box.

short story
The crazy girlfriend
My boyfriend is like so totally untrustworthy, I mean he is so innocent it's like he is not innocent. I have to keep one eye on him all the time even when we are not supposed to be doing something. Sometimes I will spy on him when he is with his friends. I am surprised he never realizes it, one time I followed him in my mom's car to the skate park he goes to. I figured he would not notice me in my mom's car because he must be so stupid because he is so innocent. I got out of the car from a place across the street and pulled out my binoculars. There was now a clear view of him zooming around at the park from a distance. He would fly from ramp to ramp with finesse and just be jamming out on his iPod the whole time and not even talk to anyone. A quick double take of me and the car one day was enough to get me to stop doing that for now on. Now I just take his phone and read the messages when he leaves his phone places. I surfed through the messages on his phone only to find messages from me and occasional calls to his skate park buddies. Notice from behind me makes me jump and I discover it is him observing me. He says he forgot his phone and asks what I was doing. Quickly thinking and saying "Changing my name in your contacts" saves my butt there. Slight suspicion is suspected from him whenever I ask him what he does during the day sometimes. He might be onto me; sadly I don’t think he is even doing anything bad. A long drive home helped me realize that he is not a bad person and he is just clearly innocent and harmless. Waking up the next morning to an annoying phone ringing I answer it and it is my boyfriend. In a surprisingly relaxed voice I hear , " I know you are spying on me and I think we need to break it off", I try to explain it to him what I thought and that makes him more aggravated and he just hangs up. Not a word was heard from him since then and it has been a month.

backmasking crap
I feel like most songs that have backmasking in them are on purpose. They have no meaning and they are really just meant to mess with your head is what I think. That might be how those people feel religiously though and that is how they express it. Sometimes it can be by accident by just saying words oddly and it just comes out funny when you play it backwards. For the most part it is on purpose and people are doing it for a reason. The reason though may not be as easy to explain as whether or not they are meant to be there because you do not know what people are thinking.
Songs that "have" backmasking are definitely not really made to have that because you really would need to concentrate to find the "messages". It is clearly a coincidence because you need to drill it in your head to try and figure it out. For example in stairway to heaven you can barely even tell what it is saying. You can only understand a word or two and the rest you just imagine it because your so into it and thinking its true. This is the case for most of the backmasking "messages" too.
Every single song i looked at was clearly not backmasked. Some linkln park song were said to be backmasked and there was not a single one that sounded clear. Once again there was one coincidence word that sounded like hate or satin and that probably made these people that look for that go crazy and try and make people think there is a message when there is not. All of these backmasked songs are all the same thing because one thing sounds wierd so people go all crazy assuming it says saitins going to kill you, or something like that. It is all the same and it is all fake.

tone analysis
Dan Fillingim
Though both “Have a Cigar” and “Rock N’ Roll Band” express musicians success, “Have a Cigar” incorporates cynical tone in order to show a negative side to the situation and “Being made into a monster”, while “Rock N’ Roll Band” pushes towards the positive side of “Sign(ing) a record deal” with a more vibrant tone.
Through the whole song “Have a Cigar” the songwriter maintains a cynical tone. It is constantly sarcastic and saying good things but it does not mean them. It says things like, “You’re gonna go far” and “The band is fantastic” which are positive things but the statements from the songwriter are very cynical and negative. They are put that way from the songwriter because they may not believe they are a good band and the statements are meant in a sarcastic way. The song is put like the person making the record deal is toying with the band in a way.
The song “Rock N’ Roll Band” is more of a positive tone and is vibrant. The song tells a story of what that band came from and how they got to the top. It is very inspirational because it shows some people who were nothing that went from “sleepin’ in (their) cars” to fame and fortune as the man with the record deal said “You’re goin’ to be a sensation”. That does not usually happen in this world and never mind “Just another band out of Boston” which is what they are. They pushed the limit and showed what is possible through hard work.
There is a clear and obvious tone for each of these songs. The cynical tone for “Have a Cigar

Burden in my hand song analysis
In the song “Burden in My Hand” Chris Cornell uses clever irony, descriptive imagery, and negative characterization to put the point across that having a lover or partner is just a burden and not necessary. The artist made this song to show you a negative aspect of a partner, when they are normally thought of as a good thing.
The artist uses descriptive imagery to give you a picture in your head and so you can see how negatively they can affect you. He says to "drown in alcohol" towards the beginning of the song. Usually when people are in a bad place or sad they will drink a lot to try and forget. There is a picture put in your head with this that you will need to drink a lot to forget about a partner or live with them. Also in the song after it says "she goes” he is "in the sunshine the sun is mine". This shows when his partner leaves he is all full of sunshine and happy, which for the sake of the relationship, it is not good. That shows he is better without them and is happier when she is gone. He says "I shot my love" towards the middle of the song and this clearly means he does not like them. When you go that far and kill them you must not be able to stand them and hate them a lot because that is serious. The pictures put in your head with this song show you very well that he does not like his partner.
There is clever irony in the song to show the bad side of having a partner. He tells them to "follow me into the desert as thirsty as you are" meaning you will have to do what they say. This shows you are restricted with a partner and cannot do what you want to do. It is ironic because the point of having a partner is to both do things you like together and be happy, that is not happening here. It is said to "kill your health and kill yourself and everything you love", which would not make sense if you have a partner. The irony here is that what you expect which would be being happy does not happen and the opposite happens. In the end here you are dead and everything you "love" is dead too. The irony here shows you that people think they know what will happen sometimes but in the end the opposite of what they expect happens.
The negative characterization helps you see how bad of a person your partner can be and how bad his is. He says "I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand" describing how his partner is just a nuisance. His logic is if they are such a bad person you might as well leave them behind or "in the sand". The partner is described and "Just an anchor on my heart", which would mean they are holding him down. He cannot love anything because this person is controlling him and holding him down to only love one person and only see one person. They are also "just a tumor in my head", as he says and that clearly is not a good thing. They are like a lump on your head that annoys you and you cannot get it off because you are attached. He is "in the dark" because of them and apparently never in a good mood because he has a partner.
As this song describes it, having a partner is a bad thing. They hold you down, depress you, restrict you and are just bad people for the most part. You can now imagine what it is like to have a horrible partner and have to live with it. The irony of having a bad partner is clear to see because of their actual purpose. When you have to live with a person whose character is terrible it is just now worth it. There are a lot of negative sides to having a partner.

SA1
In the song "Love The Way You Lie" intense imagery, similar characterization and unimaginable irony are used to show even the strongest love can fade. The artist made the song so you could know what it feels like without having to experience it.
The intense imagery in the song helps you see and imagine what it was like for both of them and how their love faded. At first they say they get "warm fuzzy feelings" and "chills" when they are around each other. They are really nervous around each other when they first meet and do not want a bad first impression. Then they break off and then they are "runnin' back, again" showing that they have tried this before and are fading. Now they have a bad relationship and for the most part hate each other. The woman says "just gonna stand there and watch me burn... and hear me cry". This helps you see what it was like for the woman and shows how much he did not care and just watched her suffer physically and emotionally through their bad relationship. Also at the same time the man suffers and says "it's a steel knife in my windpipe". Showing he suffers too and for him it is like something is cutting off his ability to breath. They are also said to "spew venom in their words" when they are fighting, showing they scream intensely while they fight. There is also physical fighting too and they say they "push pull each other’s hair, scratch, claw, hit" each other when they fight. Showing how intense their relationship is in a bad way. Clearly their relationship has faded from caring what each other think and feel to the opposite and do not care at all.
These two people are essentially the same person and are not much different; to show this the author uses similar characterization. At first they are baffled by each other and "neither one knows what hit em". This shows that both of them in the beginning have the same feelings for each other and are crazy for each other. After a while they are "now in each other’s face" and are fighting a lot and are starting to lose the feelings they had for each other. They say "it's the face that's the culprit, controls you both", meaning that they only have physical attraction for each other. They are almost fully faded now and are only still together because of physical attraction. They now regret what they have done and say "I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean". That shows they both feel bad for what they did to each other while fighting and have feelings for each other. They now "fall back into the same patterns, same routine" of breaking up, getting back together and then back again. Their relationship is like a routine now and there is virtually no feeling so they have now faded a lot. They now say "your temper is just as bad as mine is, you’re the same as me" to show they are both short tempered people and they know it now. Also they say "when it comes to love you're just as blinded", and this shows they both have no idea what love is. They now realize what it is like when two bad things combine like "when a tornado meets a volcano". Their love has faded for many reasons and one would be because they are both the same bad person on the inside.
When you are in love with someone, it is unimaginable to break up with them and to fight with them, in this song that happens and it is ironic. The man asks "you ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe" and this shows that he really loves this woman. Then they are "now gettin' sick of lookin' at em", which is ironic because he loved her a lot in the beginning and now cannot stand looking at her. Yet they "swore you'd never hit em, never do nothin' to hurt em" and this is ironic because they are now hitting and fighting with each other. The woman says "that's alright because i like the way it hurts" and she "loves the way you lie" implying she is talking to the man. She is clearly sarcastically saying this and it is ironic because she used to love him and is now joking about their love and what it is based on now. Their whole relationship is now like "broken records playin' over" and there is nothing there between them now even though they started with unexplainable love but end with this. It is very ironic how they went from absolute and pure love then crashed down to pure hate for each other.
This song shows very well that even the strongest of love can fade. Through intense imagery of how it would be like and what it was like. Also the similarities in people can drive them apart and break them. Then the irony in how unimaginable it would be to actually happen.

lyrics
"Love The Way You Lie" A Skylit Drive (Cover)
I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now it's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe but I still fight while I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right it's like I'm in flight
High off of love, drunk from my hate,
It's like I'm huffing paint and I love it the more I suffer, I suffocate
And right before I'm about to drown, she resuscitates me
She f***ing hates me and I love it.
Wait! Where you going?
"I'm leaving you"
No you ain't. Come back we're running right back.
Here we go again
It's so insane cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm Superman with the wind at his back, she's Lois Lane
But when it's bad it's awful, I feel so ashamed I snapped
Who's that dude? I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her, I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't know my own strength
[Chorus]
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
You ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe
When you're with 'em
You meet and neither one of you even know what hit 'em
Got that warm fuzzy feeling
Yeah, them chills you used to get 'em
Now you're getting f***ing sick of looking at 'em
You swore you'd never hit 'em; never do nothing to hurt 'em
Now you're in each other's face spewing venom in your words when you spit them
You push, pull each other's hair, scratch, claw, hit 'em
Throw 'em down, pin 'em
So lost in the moments when you're in them
It's the rage that took over it controls you both
So they say you're best to go your separate ways
Guess if they don't know you 'cause today that was yesterday
Yesterday is over, it's a different day
Sound like broken records playing over but you promised her
Next time you show restraint
You don't get another chance
Life is no Nintendo game
But you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave out the window
Guess that's why they call it window pane
[Chorus]
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Now I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean
And we fall back into the same patterns, same routine
But your temper's just as bad as mine is
You're the same as me
But when it comes to love you're just as blinded
Baby, please come back
It wasn't you, baby it was me
Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much to walk away though
Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk
I told you this is my fault
Look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the drywall
Next time. There won't be no next time
I apologize even though I know its lies
I'm tired of the games I just want her back
I know I'm a liar
If she ever tries to f***ing leave again
Im'a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire
I'm just gonna
[Chorus]
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
But that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now it's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe but I still fight while I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right it's like I'm in flight

"little green"
Revisiting her experience as a poor young mother in "Little Green" Joni Mitchell shows seasonal imagery, confused characterization, and descriptive personification in order to tell of her and her child’s experiences. She has many examples of these poetic devices throughout her song.
The song has many different seasons in it and she describes them with imagery. There is summer described in the song, winter and some spring, so there is pretty much all of the seasons in the song. Summer is described with California and how "everything’s warmer there". This means that it is pretty much summer all the time in California. Being very selfish the father went there instead of staying with them and being a family. When "spring is born" in the song it is an example of another season going by without the father. Showing how hard they have it and how alone they are. "There’ll be icicles and birthday clothes" is telling a good thing that may be going on in their life. There also are bad times, for example she says "There’ll be sorrow". In their lives they have had a lot of bad experiences because of the father’s absence; they do enjoy life when they can though.
Confused characterization is used to describe the people involved in the song. The father is clearly described as a selfish person for leaving them. It is said that he "went to California hearing that everything’s warmer there". This shows he is selfish because he only thinks about what will affect him in a good way and what he will like the most. Also the father is said to be "sad and sorry, but not ashamed" showing how confused he is. This shows a lot of different emotions and proves how he is confused. He is "weary of lies he is sending home" too, meaning he is unsure about them. Maybe he thinks he sould not have left and should not be where he is. The song shows that this father is a very confused person.
The descriptive personification in the song also shows what the mom and childs lives have been like. The first line, "Born with the moon in cancer" could be saying from the beginning life has been rough. Yes it is a sign of the zodiac but it could be saying the child has been born into a bad life. Relating to the name of the child; Green, her name resembles that "winter cannot fade her". Which would mean she will stay alive and happy even it the worst of cases when she should be down. The child is also "like the color when the spring is born", so the artist is trying to tell you that the child is very colorful and happy. Also she is "like the nights when the northern lights perform". The artist is really stressing that the chilld is a wonderful kid and very good.
This song shows a lot about the lives of this mother and her child. There is seasonal imagery to describe what it was like to be them and so you can imagine it. The confused characterization helps to show you what it is like for the father and how he felt about what he did. Also descriptive personification is used so you can see what the kid is like. That is how "Little Green" describes the experiences in this families lives.

why picked
I picked this genre of music because it is one of my favorite genre's to listen to. Usually it is the type of music i never skip when it comes up on my ipod because i am always in the mood to listen to some of it. Also i love it because it just gets me excited and that is good because the majority of the time im listening to my ipod is when im riding and i like to be excited when i ride. I can relate to this type of music very well too because usually the things the artists make their songs about are things i have experienced. I know what it is like to be these people because in a way i am one of them because of my life. That is why i picked punk/emo for my genre and why i like it so much.
